Secondary Punishment
Details:
Return of Corporal Punishment inflicted by Sentence of the Bench in the presence of E.A. Slade, Superintendent Hyde Park Barracks. 25 lashes for being taken out of a disorderly house at the hour of 10 at night. 'The 3rd lash drew forth groans, which were continued until he was cast loose; the skin was torn at the 11th, and blood effused slightly at the 16th lash. The skin of the convict was thick and hard, but I am of opinion that he felt his punishment sufficiently. He says he was flogged in the Barrack three years ago'
